New phone and life.....

Image
It's been a bumpy couple of months for me, after losing my Dad in January and not able to attend his funeral on person thanks to Lockdown, my Depression took hold, thankfully my partner and kids all did their part to help my swift recovery Anyway, photography, I've upgraded my phone slightly and purchased the Honor 9x, yup I've kept with Huawei, but made sure it's got GMS installed! The cameras are pretty good, especially the wide angle shooter. If I need it for some reason, I've got 48 megapixels at full resolution, but i use around 9, because of keeping everything 16:9 to fit the TV. My venture out with the new phone/cameras took me just up the road, here's my test shots.... A couple of these shots were taken with the 120 degree wide angle lens, the others were with the main Sony sensor that will snap at 48 megapixels but only in 4:3  My overall experience with the ...

Lockdown still hasn't stopped me!

Ah, it's been a hectic few months here in the Rhondda Valleys! Everything was going great till March 13th I had my shunt revision for my Hydrocephalus and the same day the Welsh and English Government put us into lockdown.... So I used my camera after I recouped from the operation which went super, finally no headaches after 8 years of suffering, but now I'm trying to beat another demon, I've been diagnosed with depression, so pills in hand and a partner who is totally awesome, I'm slowly getting my head back to some form of where it was before... I'm not going to use the word normal, as nothing is normal 😉 Anyway, I'd thought I'd share a few photos I've taken over the last 6 months of around this part of the Valleys, and I'm hoping to take some more once I've moved house.... All photo's were taken using the Honor 8x!!

The Moon through Tree

Image
Ah, couldn't resist this shot, from the backdoor, not sure if it'll look any good on a bigger screen, but it was the moon peeking through the tree in the back garden with the moonlight hitting the clouds....

Mist over the Valleys....

Image
Ah, what a week, and I couldn't resist taking these photo's after dropping my 4 year old son off at Breakfast club at 8am in the morning!! I saw my opportunity as the sun started rising and it begun to show the amount of mist across the village below and the mountains and hills too. I was pleasantly surprised at the results too with the Honor 8x camera in Pro mode. I'm hoping to catch it one of the days as it's actually hanging separated between the village and where I'm situated as it should look quite good too, but with my upcoming Hydrocephalus operation within the next 4 to 6 weeks, and the storm coming in over the next couple of days I'm hoping to catch the rare event before I go into Hospital.

Shadows of the Sun....

I decided to go for a little walk up the hill by where we live earlier today and take a few shots while the sun was about to go down to test out sooner new ways to shoot photos with my Honor 8x, and I was pleasantly surprised with the outcome!

Views in Pen-y-graig, Rhondda Valleys

Well, Christmas is almost upon us and my partner Michelle and I were on our way to see her Mom and Stepdad with our almost 1 year old daughter when I spotted a view that just, well screamed photo opportunity, so armed with my Honour 8x after a number of weeks of getting used to the camera, I took 3 shots and was amazed with what cane out! So here's the 3 photos, I just hope they live up to even just ok photos! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

Experimenting with Night shots....

Image
A few nights ago, I decided to take a couple of photos at night with the moon out to put this Honor 8x smartphone dual camera to the test, what cane out surprised me! The first photo is one taken with around 10 second shutter delay to allow light in, and the second was with AI mode, both are quite good... Here's the results!! I'm planning on experimenting more with manual mode in dusk and dawn to, to get both sunset and sunrise... Dave
