Well, Christmas is almost upon us and my partner Michelle and I were on our way to see her Mom and Stepdad with our almost 1 year old daughter when I spotted a view that just, well screamed photo opportunity, so armed with my Honour 8x after a number of weeks of getting used to the camera, I took 3 shots and was amazed with what cane out! So here's the 3 photos, I just hope they live up to even just ok photos! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

Experimenting with Night shots....

A few nights ago, I decided to take a couple of photos at night with the moon out to put this Honor 8x smartphone dual camera to the test, what cane out surprised me! The first photo is one taken with around 10 second shutter delay to allow light in, and the second was with AI mode, both are quite good... Here's the results!! I'm planning on experimenting more with manual mode in dusk and dawn to, to get both sunset and sunrise... Dave

Ah, the chilly days are upon us, and I woke a few days ago to my surprise, overnight we had some snow, not much, but enough to give "Old Smokey" a dusting, so at 0530 through the window on the stairs I decided to try the camera in low light conditions, below is what results I had. The camera on the Honor 8x works better than I thought!! Dave

Photography side...

It's been a few months, and now my daughter is about 1 and we've moved to Tylorstown since my last post to! Moving here has given me an excuse to start taking photos again, and my next thing to do on the list is get back into my Ham Radio hobby to!! Anyway I thought I'd share a few photos that I've taken with my new smartphone, the Huawei Honor 8x. The photos so far that I've taken are all of the scenery around near to where I now live. I hope anyone who reads this enjoys my photos. My Linux side of things, I've setup a Plex Media Server running Ubuntu Mate 18.04LTS, and have it streaming movies, TV shows and music around the home and on the families mobile devices using 4G while we're out and about, next is to get a Freeview antenna installed and add the 3 WinTV DuoHD receivers I've acquired, so we can then stream live TV also!! 4 months on...

Well, 4 months have passed and it's been up and down, but we've decided to move closer to my son 6 miles away in Tylorstown. It's happening this month, and already I have a few photos from around the area, and there's many more places to! And for Ham Radio, there are a few SOTA locations within a 6 mile radius of the town to, so it'll be interesting in both accounts. My daughter is now 8 months old, just where time is going is beyond me, but back in May my Mom passed away after a short illness. Our family is keeping strong and maybe I'll get one of my hobbies going again? Stay tuned.....

Who am I?

Well, the title says it all, I'm a registered blind black countryman with other health issues and I've decided to write a blog about my passions, which are Linux, Android, Ham Radio and Mobile Photography, yeah the last one may come as a bit of a surprise to a few, but with a bit of vision in my left eye I really enjoy taking photos of the area I live, more now than I did in Walsall! I'm 44, have 2 children, a boy of 3 years old and a 11 week old daughter, and I'm in the process of divorce number 2 and have a girlfriend who puts up with me and took on my son to! My health issues I try not to let them get to me, I was born with Hydrocephalus or in English, Water/fluid on the brain which even to this day still isn't in my mind, not known about by many. I also have Spina bifida, which affects my walking and my sight is hampered by both Bilateral Optic Atrophy and within the last 6 years was also diagnosed with Macular Degeneration which normally affects people in the...
